John Bull Irish Stout – Tasting
May 29, 2008When poured this beer has a reasonable head on it although it disappears slightly too quickly.
It is dark so looks like stout and smells like stout.
My initial tasting was before holiday so over 3 weeks ago and I was very pleased. Being a Guiness fan it obviously doesn’t compare to the stuff you find in Dublin but you could compare it to any exported Guiness (which doesn’t travel well).
After having another taste a couple of days ago when comparing the exact same kit but brewed by Dave I was little disappointed that some of the flavours are now less distinguished, it’s still a decent tasting stout but Dave’s seemed to have more of an instant coffee flavour, whereas mine seemed less distinct in taste but had more of an aftertaste.
